A new season with confidence

First and foremost, I wish you my best wishes in this new year. For my part, is go again. I am currently in Los Angeles for the launch of the new season with my Cannondale team.

My preparation this year has been very different from the previous year. I realized in October a very positive workout plan that was. This trend was confirmed in the training camp of the team in Italy during the period of November. A training camp which was greatly beneficial to me and my teammates : A (1) hour stationary bike in the morning on an empty stomach exercise; Breakfast; A (1) time flexibility exercises; Five (5) hours of road cycling; Massage; Meal; Dodo; and again the next day, all under the guidance and supervision of our new fitness trainer, German sports scientist, Sebastian Weber, one of the best coach of his generation : T-Mobile; HTC Columbia; Katusha. Weber has worked with André Greipel, Tony Martin, Tejay Van Garderen and Joaquim Rodriquez.

My race program is already set for 2014 : Start the "Tour Down Under" in Adelaide in southern Australia 19 the 26 January, First a criterion of 50 km (People’s Choice Classic) and then six (6) steps in as many days. For the occasion, Elia Viviani will be my teammates as team leader and Cameron Wurf, Kiwi George Bennet, Matthias Kirizek, Matej Mohoric et Alberto Bettiol. Biago Conte act as Sporting Director.

Climatic conditions in Australia this time of the year are somewhat different from Montreal. This is the period of the summer with temperatures of 40C overwhelming. As otherwise there is no perfect world is not it ? All teams will be at the World Tour visit. I can not wait to compete after several months of training and preparation.

I will remain in Australia for the month of February before returning to Europe for the spring classics. I prefer to continue my training at European warm winter cold. Last year, I had the opportunity to take part in the Vuelta a Espana. I had to bow to the 10th stage of the Tour, victim of a fall. This year, selections on the major tours will be announced in due course as usual: On verra bien.

I do not anticipate returning to Quebec before the end of May, after Paris-Roubaix. I begin this new season with great optimism and renewed confidence. Last year, I was in my first season in World Tour. I had the chance to express myself in particular the Tour of California with Peter Sagan as well as in GP de Québec at the end of the year.

At the beginning of new season, my physical preparation is the appointment and has good indicators, it only remains to roll, roll and win races with my teammates.

Thank you follow me. Encouragement are always appreciated.

Good season 2014.
